I am not a huge sports fan but I do like to watch a good basketball or football game now and then. I prefer the college arena over the pros. I am an Ohio State fan mostly because of my Ohio roots.
March Madness is of course NCAA basketball mania. Fans fill in brackets on-line to track their favorite team or to demonstrate their ability to choose a winner.
The Buckeyes were not included in the NCAA this year. Their record wasn’t good enough. Instead they received an invitation to what has become the consolation prize – the NIT (National Invitational Tournament). It is basically ignored in the media and it is usually difficult to find out who is winning or losing. Ohio State won – defeating U.Mass in the final game. This finished the best 2-year record in Ohio State history but it will go unnoticed by most.
There are millions of people in the world doing remarkable things that are ignored. We were watching the news the other evening. The story being reported was of little interest so we reached for the handy remote. All three channels were reporting the same story – at the same time. We looked at each other and thought surely there must be more important things to report on and there must be more than one story to tell.
There are people whose stories are never told who are changing the lives of others for the good and nobody notices.
There are those who seek the lime-light who have done little. I applaud those who do much but care little about the lime-light. They are the real heroes.
