Josh graduated from college two years ago with a degree in linguistics. He spent this past year in Chad working on an alphabet for one of the people groups there who do not have a written language. His work is part of a project to eventually translate the Bible into that language. He shared his experience in Chad at Northpoint this morning.
He described the weather, the food and the bugs and then talked about the work he was doing. He talked about the personal challenges as well – the loneliness, times of fear and the frustration of not being able to communicate. I was pleased with his transparency.
He reminded us that we, too have opportunity to serve Jesus here in our own neighborhoods. He quoted from Matthew 5 about being light in the world. He said that we ARE light. We need to trust the light that Christ has put within us.
I am encouraged to see such a young man committed to being a Christ-follower.
