Matt called me this week using Skype. I was working away at my computer and I heard this voice asking, “are you there?” I was there but had forgotten my microphone. My first instinct was to yell at the computer – hoping somehow he would hear. Fortunately I didn’t follow my instincts because there were people in the next office. I quickly noticed a place on the Skype screen that would allow me to send “text responses.” It was an interesting way to communicate – Matt would talk and I would type a response. There were significant delays in hearing his voice because he had to wait on my typed response. When we finished the conversation I sat back and wondered if there aren’t some parallels between this experience and our conversations with God. He speaks but because our communication is limited, He has to wait for a response. We want desparately to hear Him again but perhaps, He is simply waiting for a response from us.
